The Bak Poya Sila Programme

The Bak Poya day is on the Full moon day of April. This holy day celebrates the second visit of the Buddha to Sri Lanka , which took place in the fifth year of his supreme enlightenment in order to reconcile two local chiefs ,Mahodara and Chulodara ,uncle and nephew, who had fallen into disagreement and were threatening hostility over a throne beset with jewels.

As a part of traditional Theravada Buddhist observances, the devotees of the Vihara will observe 10 precepts (Dasa Sila) on Saturday 05th April 08.The day retreat programme will start at 9.00am and will last until 4.00pm.

The theme of the day is Right Understanding (Samma Ditthi).

The Dana meal will be offered for the Upasaka and Upasikas on the day by Mr and Mrs Hemantha Ranasinghe.
