Sacred Relic of the Buddha on Display at Scotland’s Buddhist Vihara
Sacred Relic of the Buddha on Display at Scotland ’s
Buddhist Vihara
We are delighted to inform you that, from the 21st of July until the 16th of November we will be displaying our very special Sacred Relic of the Buddha. (Dhatu) at the Vihara.
The resident Monks will observe their 3 month retreat from the 22nd of July (Esala, full moon Poya day).
During this time the Vihara has organised many religious activities to celebrate this very special occasion.
Every day at 07:00 am, 11:00 am and 09:00 pm, Buddha Puja will be conducted by the Monks, this is also open to the public. The monks will recite "Itipiso" Gatha 121 times, and also they will be meditating on Buddha’s noble virtues (Buddhanussati Bhavana).
Every Saturday from 27th July from 05:00 pm to 06:00 pm, there will be a special one hour sermon regarding one quality of the Buddha. There will be 16 consecutive sermons, describing the Buddha’s noble virtues. Devotees and well wishers are invited to sponsor these sermons and also, to offer refreshments for participants after the sermon.
It is a tradition that devotees have only a vegetarian meal on the day before they come to pay their homage to Sacred Relics.
Also we very much appreciate if you could offer only vegetarian Dana to the resident Monks during the Wassana Retreat.
Please contact the Vihara if you have any queries.
