BBC CAPTURES CHILDREN CELEBRATING WESAK

Children took part in various activities to celebrate Wesak at Scotland's Buddhist Vihara. The programme was started with the children entering the shrine in a small Perahera. They were then involved in religious activities, offering flowers to the Lord Buddha and paying homage to the noble triple gem followed by a special meditation session meant for children. Another special workshop was organised for the children, to teach them how to make a Wesak lantern with paper and glue and decorate it. This workshop was conducted by Dr.Manoj Arunajith. The children enjoyed painting the Buddhist flag with the colours of the aura – the rays of the Enlightened One.

This special day full of religious and social activities was captured by the BBC to share with the children around the world.
